Nutella bites

I can’t believe Christmas is almost here! I am about to burst with holiday cheer.

Since I had a little accident with a glue gun, all of my Christmas crafts have involved baking. I found these little niblets on pinterest and had to try them. They just look like little bites of Christmas joy! I knew I just HAD to make them.

These are bite-size bits of chocolate-hazelnut goodness and will make even the grinchiest grinch’s heart grow three sizes. Try baking in mini cupcake pans or any fun silicone molds that you have! I used this boring square Wilson silicon mold. It was from Hobby Lobby which is terrible. I only went because there is one close to my office, not knowing it was the craft store from hell. Besides denying their employees the basic right of making their own health care decisions, they don’t even have Martha Stewart! And who doesn't sell Christmas tree molds around Christmas!?!?

I can’t even…

Luckily they had edible glitter, otherwise I would have lost my shit in the baking aisle

Anway… back to the ooey-gooey happiness. They are delicious. Make them and eat them. Like now.

Ingredients:

  • ½ Cup nutella (or any chocolate hazelnut spread)

  • 3 egg yolks (save the egg whites for a healthy omelet to feel better about yourself after you eat all of these)

  • 1/2 C milk

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • ½ C sugar

  • ½ C coconut flour (if you don't have coconut flour and want to use regular flour, cut the amount of milk you use in half)

  • ¼ tsp baking powder

  • Powdered sugar (optional)

  • Edible glitter (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350.

  2. Mix nutella, egg yolks, milk, vanilla, and sugar together in a bowl until creamy and smooth.

  3. Add flour and baking powder and stir until fully combined.

  4. Pour mixture into a mini muffin tin

  5. Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes.

  6. Let cool, or at least wait until they are not burning hot, and cover with powdered sugar and glitter.

  7. Devour.

Holiday Fun.

I’ve taken a long break from blogging but things have been crazy lately. Since my last post, I’ve gotten used to living at home again and settled into my first “real world” job.  I was so excited to throw the party for my mom that I wrote about in August, but with sending one brother off to college and taking the other brother on college visits, there never seemed to be time.

Luckily I have a new party to plan. Ever since I was little, my family has hosted a party on Christmas Eve. I grew up with these families and now that we are older, all the kids are off living in different cities, at different colleges, and this is one of the few times of the year that we get to see each other- making it a most festive occasion. Since my pinterest boards went unused this summer, I am going pin-crazy for Christmas. I’ll be testing some of the recipes here before Christmas, and then blogging about the party as a whole afterwards.

In more holiday excitement, a few months back I entered a contest on instagram and won! On December 28th I will be headed to sunny Palm Beach for the Red Cross Beach Bash courtesy of Lilly Pulitzer! I can’t wait to share that experience on here with lots of pictures and DIYs so you can have a taste of the party even if you aren’t in sunny Florida.

That’s all the winter madness that is on my plate for now! Plenty of recipes and crafts to come!

Pinterest Party

Like many people, I have a pinterest problem. I pin all these wonderful things that look so easy and fabulous, but I never actually get around to making or doing them.

Luckily, my mom is having  party and letting me use my excessive pinning to plan the food and drinks! So now instead oaf being sad that I've never been able to do all my wonderful pins, I can move on to worrying about creating major pinterests fail.

Manicure Monday: Pastel nails

Maybe its because my nail polish collection is a little out of control, but I can never choose one color. I usually end up changing the color after two days or as soon as it begins to chip. Sometimes my inability to pick a single color means I will paint them one color and immediately change my mind and repaint them a different color, and then change my mind again and paint them for the third time in one day.

If I know I just won't be able to choose I just stop trying and use all the colors I am trying to choose between. This is how my pastel manicure came to be.

Shine Bright

One of my favorite things about being in a sorority in college was the ridiculous outfits that you could get away with for swaps and mixers. Finally I had a reason to dress up in completely crazy outfits. Now in my post grad life I've needed to restrain myself and have sunk into a fashion slump of socially acceptable pencil skirts and blazers. But ask anyone and they can tell you that self control has never been my virtue, so after graduation the search began for ways to still stand out without looking like an unemployable freak.

I have always been easily distracted by loved bright and shiny things. Diamonds, glitter, neon.. how can  anybody not love them! Unfortunately diamonds are expensive and wearing glitter is pretty much a lifetime commitment since it never seems to go away, but neon comes in a wide range of prices and isn't impossible to take off. A bright accessory can be the perfect pop of color to bring a simple, monotone outfit come to life, or it can bring out an accent color in patterned clothing. Neon can work in both the daytime and nighttime and can be used to transition an outfit from casual to "going-out".

While neons are great as accent pieces, why not 'go big or go home'.The key to fully embracing neon is to stick with either warm or cool colors. While I love pink and green in pastels, nobody should walk around looking like a radioactive watermelon.

I prefer warm colors and chose pink as my base color. Then I added yellow into the ensemble and added a splash of orange to blend the two colors together.

This outfit also easily went from brunch with my parents to the bars that night..

In the morning I wore a white tank top under the top, tucked in the shirt, and wore the skirt at my natural waist with nude sandals. I also grabbed a navy sweater because restaurants always seem to be cold. For night I switched out the tank top in favor for a neon yellow crop top. I also pulled the skirt up to my waist-waist and switched out the nude sandals for a pair that matched my hot pink necklace.

xx,

Megan

P.S. If you didn't get that Life-Size reference then you need to stop reading and go watch that movie. Like now.
