My Top 5

I’m always finding new things that I’m obsessed with, but I can’t write posts about them all. Here are the 5 things I am obsessed with right now!

Galley Kitchens

I was always team Galley kitchen, especially after our house in Virginia had one. All of our apartments, however, were all open-concept, L-shaped kitchens with a big island that opens to the living area. I know it’s straight out of HGTV, but I hate it. I’m already so prone to clutter, I don’t need a big island collecting random stuff. I adore a galley kitchen because all the work space is close together so its convenient to pop around to different work stations, there is SO MUCH MORE storage, and they just make sense! Plus, our kitchen has the most magnificent lighting.

Ruggable

Our new home is hardwood everywhere. It’s beautiful and I love it, but my feet get cold and it shows ALL. THE. DUST. We had a great jute rug in our last apartment that we had to throw out because of new puppy potty accidents and post surgery puppy vomit (I just love my dodges so much). But with Ruggable, I can just toss the rugs in the washer and dryer and BOOM! Good as new! We also have a Ruggable runner in our kitchen for my messes. I dropped a jar of marinara sauce while unpacking, and after treating the stain, it washed right out! I am never going back to regular carpet again!

Old Cookbooks

I’ve always loved cookbooks, but I am loving old, picture-free cookbooks that are filled with amazing recipes. The Taste of Country Cooking (1976) and Charleston Reciepts (1950) are my current favorites

Flowers

One of the reasons I fell in love with our home is the amazing yard. There’s no grass, it’s all wild. There are a few flowering bushes and vines around the property (I think I’ve spotted some tulips as well), but I can’t wait to plant some wild flowers. I have some Hyacinths on my desk & I can’t wait to plant some bulbs outside.

Plastic-Free

Now that I have a yard and can do some real serious composting, I want to decrease the plastics in my trash and recycling. I love the Package Free Shop, Mountain Rose Herbs bulk herbs & spices, and Yeti water bottles!
